I love riding through rural Alabama. The fields and abandoned homes remind me of the years I drove all over south Alabama visiting the families who lived in these homes and worked the fields.
I remember visiting an elderly couple — Frank and Leanna Moorer — in Pink Bottom, Alabama, a small community near Isom Bottom and Minter.
It was a cold winter day, so they were sitting next to a wood burning heater. I sat down with them and listened to them tell old stories while we ate parched peanuts and baked sweet potatoes.
Interestingly, I took this picture near Perdue Hill after we buried their son, Andrew, decades later.
Words and light reflections on the floor of Terminal J of the Miami International Airport remind me that “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” Psalms 119:105 NLT — Miami, FL
Just as the end of our days is beautiful when we look toward the sun, the end of our lives is colored with peace and hope when we look to the Son and believe in Him.

Autumn trees model the beauty of those humans who die with hope of living again.

On a recent flight from Curaçao to Miami, the setting sun shown above and below the clouds, and glistened on the golden Caribbean Sea.
It reminds me that God is on both sides of the clouds in our life.
David said, “If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. Psalm 139:9-10 NIV
Wherever we are geographically, emotionally, spiritually, socially, financially, or in health “even there God’s hand will guide us, and His right hand will hold us fast.
Knowing God is with us, enables us to travel toward darkness or light with courage, faith, and hope.
After a day of thunderstorms and flooding, at sunset the sun looked back over the rain-drenched island of Curaçao and blew a good-bye kiss that made heaven and earth glow with joy.
I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, And on Your wondrous works.
